Whitney is inspired by the joy and beauty she finds in people, places and the objects of everyday life. Her work has been described as playful and whimsical. Through her art, she hopes to invoke feelings of comfort, curiosity and hopefulness.

In her youth, Whitney was surrounded by creativity. Besides a gift for creating delectable desserts, her mother's large scale painting outfitted the walls of an animal themed playroom. Meanwhile her grandmother's talents ranged from oil painting to silk-screening, knitting and quilting.

Trying to keep up, Whitney proudly painting smudges as a child.  Eventually this evolved into exploring drawing, collage, pastels, paint and any medium that held the promise of a creative escapade.

While she continued to create art through the years, Whitney reconnected with a more regular practice during the pandemic.

Today, Whitney prefers working with acrylics, mixed media, drawing and exploring a variety of mediums and materials. She is self-taught and draws from a rich well of life experiences for self-expression. She believes  that keeping an open mind is essential to creating art that is fresh and free of boundaries.
